Mohamad’s Story

Mohamad was first brought to our attention back 2013 while applying for a RAN support and Integration engineering position with Huawei based in the UAE. Mohamed had been out of work for over a year and he was desperate for a new contract, which was proving difficult for him to achieve for several reasons but mainly that he is of Sudanese Nationality and such candidates, due to visa restrictions, are very hard to place internationally.

When we met with Mohamad we were blown away by his personality, his technical skills were spot on too. We made it our mission to help him achieve his dream of working internationally to support his family in Sudan.

Mohamad excelled in his interviews with Huawei UAE in both technical testing and HR, and was offered a role. The only problem was that the rate offered did not match the seniority or responsibility of the role in hand and we felt Mohamad was being undervalued. We negotiated with our client and ultimately got Mohamad the rate he deserved in the new role and he accepted.

The process of bringing a Sudanese candidate into the UAE is however a tricky one and this turned out to be an extreme case. Mohamad’s visa was held up at Dubai immigration due his name appearing on an international ‘watch list’. We worked tirelessly with Mohamed and the local authorities to prove it was a case of mistaken identity, and FPG’s country manager and our legal team got his name cleared and visa released.

Since then, Mohamad has excelled in his role, and the client subsequently offered to take him from contract to perm, giving him his dream UAE role. Since turning perm he still often visits our Dubai office to talk Telecoms! A great success story for us and Mohamad, who 18 months ago was unemployed and struggling for a break, to winning his dream role overseas, supporting his family in Sudan.
